Dealing Crack to Pay for Private School

Sophia Bailey turned to dealing crack to support her family in Jamaica. Her biggest motivation to become a drug dealer was to pay for her children’s education at a private school.

The 40yr old mother of two was dealing crack cocaine and heroin in the UK when police raided her home. They found approximately 75 grams of crack and approximately 38 grams of heroin. Bailey plead guilty to possessing crack and heroin with the intent to distribute.

Judge William Hart jailed her for 40 months and he said “fondly hoped” she would be deported on release.

Bailey had been in the UK since 2006 and was the care giver for her elderly uncle. She claims to have turned to dealing drugs to support her uncle and parents who are also in poor health. To add to her problems, her 18 and 20-year-old children had expensive school fees.
