Working Jetpack Hits the Market Soon

The jetpack has been a common device in the sci-fi genre for many decades now. Who wouldn't want a portable device that can transport the user across the sky?

The Martin Aircraft Company was founded in 1998 with the sole purpose of creating a functioning jetpack. Glenn Martin, the founder, originally had the idea in 1981.

The Martin Jetpack doesn't exactly look like jetpacks found in fiction, but it could be a step in the right direction despite its large size. It is being marketed with specific uses such as military, commercial, and recreation. The vehicle is still being developed, but is expected to come out within the next couple of years with an estimated price of under $150,000. The everyday consumer is going to have to wait quite a bit longer until an affordable jetpack is developed.

The Martin Aircraft Company has released a video showcasing the uses of the Martin Jetpack, but has been criticized for their extensive use of green screen and lack of actual footage where the jetpack is being used.
