A Pennsylvanian man, Justin Greene, was fined $25 for parking his vehicle on the wrong side of the street. In response, he decided to pay the fine with 2,500 pennies held in 50 rolls.
Unfortunately, a federal law does not allow for the paying of substantial debts with pennies. Greene's move was seen as disrespectful and distasteful by authorities. His payment was turned down and he was told to pay in a reasonable fashion.
It turns out that the law doesn't prevent individuals from paying with other types of coins, such as quarters. It’s a shame he wasn’t carrying those around with him.
